And yet another one!

picture-3327I found another K6 Telephone Box today (along with two EIIR Post boxes) along St. Peter’s Road on Hayling Island. Although this one is very tatty and badly maintained, all finds of these old Telephone Boxes are important especially as British Telecom announced that over 150 Telephone Boxes in the area are to go (which includes 50 red Telephone Boxes), so you must photograph them while you can!

TGI Fotopic!

Yes, the Transport Enthusiasts favourite Photograph sharing website has returned today – Fotopic! Millions of photographs from over 60,000 users, some not even on the owners computer, could have been lost but hopefully this is now not the case. My Flickr website for the time being will be kept and will hold all my Telephone box photographs.

Blue K8 Found!

picture-32651At long last I have a photograph of a K8 Telephone box, this particular one being in Hythe Harbour. It is Blue and I believe it is the last working Blue K8 Telephone Box in Britain. It lacks any sort of BT branding but does have a working telephone, albeit not a BT one. I believe it is a private Box.

If you want the exact location of this telephone box, please find the photograph on my Flickr website to the left and click ‘Map’. My Fotopic website is currently broken as are all the other Fotopic websites. Noone has any idea why so I am currently using Flickr at the moment.

It’s Raining Again!

picture-3141Today I was planning to photograph a newly located blue K8 Telephone box in Hythe near Southampton but, as you may know, the weather is terrible. To much for me to go out just for a Telephone box, so I have had to stay in unfortunately.

I took this photograph when I was last in Brighton. As usual when I go there, it was raining so I used this photograph to illustrate todays web log.

I shall look at today in the future and think to myself ‘it is not the end of the world’. I am not doing anything other than looking forward to ‘ITV 1 Night’ and writing this web log.

By the way I found out that my ‘new’ Telephone is a BELL Bakelite Telephone.

Hello world!

picture-3184Hello everybody! Welcome to my new web log! This is where I will post regularly about my adventures here in the south of england.

Now, to start things off let me tell you why I called this web log ‘The Black Telephone’. Well today, this morning a vintage antique black telephone arrived as an early Christmas present. Don’t worry folks I didn’t open a present early, it wasn’t wrapped up! Anyway I recieved it from someone who knows I have a keen interest in telephone boxes and he thought this was one of the old 200 series Bakelite telephones that used to be in the old K1 – K6 telephone boxes. Unfortunately it wasn’t but I liked it and decided to keep it anyway. I was always wondering what to write my first web log post about and what to call it and now I know.

picture-3144Last Saturday I also visited Portsmouth to take more Photographs of Stagecoach South’s new Alexander Dennis Enviro 300s on route 23. So far I have thirteen out of eighteen. Unfortunately I did not get a photograph of the remaining five which are 27559/62/64/66/67. I did however add another Telephone box to my collection which was in Gosport near the Bus Station.

If you are interested in Telephone and Post boxes and transportation in the south of england then this is the place for you so stay tuned for more posts!
